Four colour maps and black and white photographs throughout. Edges just a little rubbed. Neat tape reinforcement to the top and bottom of the front.

SHELL Shell and BP Shilling Guides to the counties of Britain. In the s Shell gained a good reputation for its artwork, especially for the small posters pasted to the side of its delivery lorries and tankers. Many of these were commissioned from leading British artists including E McKnight Kauffer, Paul Nash and Graham Sutherland. An Illustrated Guide to the Land Snails of the British Isles provides a comprehensive set of images of the shells of all British and Irish land snails, including many of living specimens. In addition to snails that occupy the full range of outside habitats from woodland to gardens, we have also included illustrations of 11 species that survive.

First Edition. 8vo. , first post-war Shell guide, 68 pp. some faint foxing and browning to foredges, some light browning to pictorail endpapers, good plus in original cream cloth, upper edge browned, tips of top corners rubbed and a little grubby, small patch/satin to corner upper board otherwise cream cloth bright and clean, good in.
